The Challenge
In 2023, Avenue Living Asset Management invited several firms to respond to an RFP for a new investor-facing portal. Their investor communications were still largely driven by manual processes, and their growing investor base was creating increasing pressure around document delivery, consistency, and speed. They knew the destination. An online, secure area where investors could log in to download documents and view up-to-date transactions and account balances in real time. But they had not yet settled on the right system or process to get there. The challenge wasn’t only technical. Avenue Living had multiple document repositories across asset groups that needed alignment. Organization, governance, and clear rules were required so reporting and delivery looked consistent across the business. And because the portal touched so many workflows, it demanded tight coordination across departments like operations, marketing, and IT, each with different priorities and constraints. Above everything else, security was the non-negotiable requirement and the dominant risk factor from day one.
Our Solution
After winning the RFP, Intoria partnered closely with Avenue Living Asset Management to turn an initially high-level vision into a clear, executable plan. We met with stakeholders multiple times per month as requirements emerged and the scope crystallized. Because key systems and processes were still unknown at the time of the bid, strong project management and steady guidance were essential to keep decisions moving and keep the roadmap stable as clarity increased. We worked across the organization, from entry-level contributors to executive leadership, to ensure the solution matched real workflows and governance needs. Security was treated as the primary design constraint, not a checklist at the end. We collaborated tightly with their security team, opened our code and implementation to multiple third-party penetration tests, and hardened the environment until those firms were unable to access protected areas. In parallel, we helped normalize reporting criteria and standardize document storage and retrieval across asset classes, creating consistency across the investor experience. As new requests surfaced, we coordinated with Avenue Living’s project management team to assess out-of-scope items and bring them into the roadmap only once approved. After 18 months of coordinated delivery, we launched an MVP that provided investors access to a refined set of features. From there, we continued development alongside Avenue Living’s teams as they expanded the information they delivered to investors, carefully sequencing releases so progress never disrupted operations. The project successfully transitioned from initial release into a stable support and maintenance phase.
Results
Today, investors across Avenue Living’s various funds can access a secure, self-service investor portal. The platform sees daily usage from hundreds of users and delivers a reliable, bank-grade experience that balances accessibility with strong protection of sensitive financial data. Investors can log in to a multi-lingual portal to access documents for tax and reporting purposes, download investment materials, and view transaction history and real-time balances. The experience is fast, responsive, and easy to use. It replaces manual, high-touch investor communications with comprehensive, consistent document delivery at scale. Security outcomes were validated repeatedly. Multiple third-party penetration tests were unable to uncover vulnerabilities or gain access to protected areas. Internally, Avenue Living now has clearer, firmer processes and standardized practices across asset groups, supporting consistent reporting and repeatable delivery for years to come. Beyond the product itself, Avenue Living’s team shared strong feedback on the working relationship. They highlighted the ease of collaboration, the values-driven approach, and the confidence created through how Intoria communicated and delivered throughout the engagement.
"I can say without a doubt that the type of service you receive from Intoria is the kind that's in very short supply. We approached the firm to develop a unique, proprietary portal. Intoria devoted a great deal of resources to the task of making it more effective, efficient, and user-friendly. The cost of doing so was an appropriate task, and some concessions were made on their part to ensure quality and time delivery upgrades. The support for the software is prompt, and the rare issues experienced are not re-occurring. The only discipline disappointment that I can note is that I do not have enough people to refer them to that would undoubtedly find value in their service."
